Too slow, too slow
 the tortoise go,
too slow for man to fear,
too slow, too slow
 to even know,
the universe is here.
Too slow to hate and ravage,
too slow to know 'the plot,'
too slow to trash the forests,
too slow to smash the lot.
Too slow to think 'life is a bore.'
too slow to instigate a war.
A bit too slow for cunning guile,
much too slow to fake a smile.
Too slow to wonder why they're here,
too slow to wish we'd disappear.
Too slow to ooze religion
(for which men kill to claim ,)
too slow to know that skin can show,
which group to hate and blame.
Too slow, too slow
the tortoise go,
I wish mankind did too,
but we're too fast
to ever last,
this fact, I know- is true .

I like the way you think! A down-to-earth poem about preferring the slow pace of life instead of the crazy fast lane most people live in. I agree wholeheartedly! The lyrical flow of your poem lulls one into accepting the slowness of the tortoise as opposed to the rapid beat of the hare.

Dear Kay,

The tortoise seems to have evolved more favourably than humankind. Bless You for your spiritual wisdom.

I think it's very sadly true, too. And I've often wondered what it must feel like to be a very wise old tortoise.

but we're too fast

Man moves fast like a horse to the direction of war while moves too slow like a tortoise to the direction of peace.
Fantastic poem of truth in the nature of mankind
