Restraints were lifted, restrictions tossed,

a weight was shifted, a heartache lost,

a sigh was taken, relief its sound,

and ties forsaken to be unbound.

Knots unknotted and ties undone,

a dream besotted for a battle won,

then steps incumbent

escaped triumphant

to run...and run...and run.

The harness fell

and all could tell

joy was there to find

and merriment was heaven-sent

inside that lion-cub's mind.

Giggles wriggled out so quick

as limbs unhindered  chanced a kick

and as escape danced its flight

his parents glanced with sweet delight

at the one who once was bound

and all answered prayers they've found.

for they had seen a battle won,

valiantly, by their son,

and in that little heart so young

a flower of wisdom grows

blooming through adversity

the little lion cub grew to be

budding oh so beautifully

with wonderment at feeling free

his courage there for all to see

their  lion-cub roars his journey of:

patience ,strength...and...love.

A marvelous poem, Kay. And you reminded me of a starving, forgotten, heavily chained dog that I rescued. He became such a joyous carefree creature, after he was freed.
