This poem explores the awesome powers of the mind. It was influenced by the concept of drugs (particularly LSD) allowing the mind to go back to its state of great imagination, as in one's childhood...

You’ve made it back
After all these years
Welcome back
And have no fears

Here you are: out in front
Or is it, rather: “in, out, back”?
Either way…it’s quite the stunt
And I do not jest…that is a fact

Face to face with your childhood
Eye to eye…without the lies
Face to face with all that is good
Eye to eye…please, come inside

Oh, of course!
The door, the door
Please excuse me, and don’t be sore

It seems you must
Possess a key
And I trust you
Have it with thee?

And why the hell not?
We worked so hard…such colorful banners…
Oh! Please excuse…I forgot…
my manners

It’s just that you’ve come all this way
You can’t possibly turn back
No…you should stay
For nearby is this
key you lack

Back again, back again
There and back again;
And what of the key
This time, my friend?

Yes!? For sure,
He has the cure!
He’s made a discovery
Of the key of keys

Perfect timing!
Why yes, we’re still rhyming
It is quite the diction
Void of any crude friction

So now, yes, now
While time is still dear
Wipe that sweat, from your brow
And stick the key in…right here, right here!

Finally…the door is ajar
It’s been too long
For what a sight you are

And what of us?
Well, we’re alive and well
And even better now
That you’re back from hell

Please don’t panic
If this all seems new
‘Cause we’ve always been here, always with you

If you insist, I will explain
Though in vain,
For what I tell you
Will be no knowledge gained

You see…
It’s like this…
You have left
           your precious

But isn’t it grand?
This awesome experience…?
It’s the forbidden land
And we welcome your presence

And on this trek
To the depths of your mind
We’re here to help
Let’s see what we’ll find

No! No!
You ignorant fools!
He left us behind
…so very unkind
And to reality, he won’t go back
We won’t let him…
