A Love Thought

I thought he loved me.
I thought he loved me not.

I knew he loved me.
I knew he loved me not.

I made his accidental baby ...
the proof of his own accidental existence.
But he proved he loved me not.

His baby is almost grown now.
My almost grown son
looks at me with a knowing grin.

He makes me smile now.
He makes me grin.

My son makes me smile now,
with that knowing grin

and I'll never try again
to make a man love me

or love me not.

On your bio page you state, "Poetry is an antidote for anguishing souls." While I've read a great deal of poetry in my life, I've never considered myself much of a poet; a truth that saddens me, to some extent. However, I believe most poetry is written like a ball of emotion that's then given to (or sometimes thrown at) others so the read may garner some understanding of the author's feelings.

Your "A Love Thought" serves that purpose rather well.

Be well,
