Italian American Tribute to Captains

My love of the sea never leaves me. "Thank you" to all captains and friends who have taken me out on their boats as they brave the sea.

C     ourageously fights the winds and violent rythms of each wave,

A ir and wind carries the salt of the sea, yet he wipes the salt quickly.

oints his compass fearlessly and protects       his passengers and crew every minute.

T  urbulent winds and uncertainty pounds against his windbreaker, yet he maintains his confidence with a silver shamrock and the St. Christopher medallion in his jean pocket.

A rdent, blue eyes shine upon the horizon, as he dances with the sea.

I ntelligence, grace, and a sense of humor fills the summer night,

N ever forget his love and dedication to the sea, as you embark on your adventure together, exploring the unkown,  watching the cascades of fireworks in the sky, or bringing you to the path of light near the light house.

My love of the sea will never leave me. Each time I ride on a boat on Long Island sound, I feel a surge of energy, freedom, and exhilaration.  The joy of bringing the cooler of beverages on the deck, the bronze suntan, laughter, and scent of the seafood and burgers in Port Jefferson, NY always makes me smile. The one thing for sure is that I always have time to say "thank you" to the friend, or should I say, "the fearless Captain" who gives the beautiful gift of spending a few hours at sea.

May St. Christopher, or the Saint of travel, keep all Captains safe.  I smile as I think of the excitement of being on a boat, especially when the captain brings such pleasure to the trip, with a sense of protectiveness.   May all boaters and captains be safe! You represent freedom and a hunger for adventure.

Excellent tribute Joanna! I love the ocean and have enjoyed the breeze on my bald head, the crisp air in my lungs, the sting of spray on my face as the boat plunges forward cutting a swath through sea. Thanks to all brave Captains, may the wind always fill their sails!
