NEW YEAR, COME!

A brand new year is on the way,
Yes, even at the door-
And so this poem comes to say,
“Lord, may we seek you more!”

For sure, God has abundance still,
All at our beckon call-
Yet it depends upon our will,
Dare we surrender all?

For giving up the thing most prized
That whets our appetite-
Means seeing through the Saviour’s eyes
And watch Him make it right!

He’ll take our pride and any sin
That we somehow possess-
If we’ll allow Him entrance in
Our heart’s and mind’s recess!

So New Year, come! Yes even so,
May through you God impart
New zeal, new hope, desire to go
With clean hands and pure heart!

HAPPY NEW YEAR, 2008!
