When you are losing a parent or a close family member or a dear friend you always think of the things you wish you could take back or the things you wish you could have said but never did. This poem "If I Could" tells of the regret of those times.
If I could take back all the hurt I caused,
Would you take it back too?
If I could take back all the tears that fell,
Would you let me dry them from your cheeks?
When the "he said, she said" time comes around,
Would you call a silence to all chatter?
If I could take back the things I said wrong,
Would you do the same for me?
If I could take back all the lies I have told,
Would you really tell no more?
If a promise is a promise is a promise,
Would you promise all over again?
If I promised all over again.
Would you believe me with your heart?
I could take back the hurt and the tears,
I could take back the things I did wrong,
I could tell no more lies,
I could promise again and again...........
If I could.
