Is it Easier, Dear Friend?
Is it easier,
if one you love
is, in mind,
no longer
the one you loved?
Is it harder,
I wonder,
to bid farewell
when the one
you love
no longer
knows,
nor knows
to love you?
I question not
for me.
I question not
for one
I ever knew.
I question for
one I love
that loves one,
that, in truth,
in mind,
no longer knows
to love the one
he did love.
In mind,
no longer loves
the one he knew
to love.
Though our words,
your and my words,
one to the other
are better left unsaid,
know my dear friend,
how I wish it
were my hand you hold
when, in epitaph,
kind words are said.
Know my dear friend,
how I wish it
were my shoulder
your head rests upon
when tears come.
Is it easier I wonder,
to bid farewell
to the living shell
of whom you knew,
but no longer
resides within?
I wonder
my dear friend.
I hope.

| Profound, my friend. My heart feels pain as I read the words you write. You capture the imagination with your brush. Be Well Always. |

Words unsaid are never easy, and love that is lost and not forgotten is harder still, but we go on with the knowing "to love the one who no longer knows to love you" because it just goes on. Never easy.

Perhaps this one shouldn't be consider a review, but...
Pains of love, what hurts most? your mother punching you on the nose for no reason or you father's total ignoring you? your wife killing your unborn son or your countrymen spitting upon your uniform coming back from war? coming always to an empty house or never knowing what the hell love is all about?
No, it's not easy, my friend, not easy at all.

Such a sense of loss without borders, almost like a ghost caught between worlds. To a heart that loves deeply, the choice would seem so clear and concrete. But the constraints of life are sometimes bound with invisible chains. Destiny writes the final page...
