Life as poetry

A letter I got in the mail today
Promised that my dreams would all come true this year,
(A substantiated blessing from a 50 yr. old Church)!
Then the 3 lbs. of pork-chops I bought at Stater's
Cost me a jackpot total of $7.77!
It must be a change of luck,
To end a lifetime of unfortunate events.
It made absolute sense to spend what cash
I knew I needed for other things
On scratchers and 30 numbers for the Lotto!
As I did, strangers in line wished me "THE BIG ONE"
I'd guessed the next 24 hours of dreaming
Would be well worth the bit of hope I'd paid for.
Win or lose...
My luck would be to live another day...
Under a termite infested roof,
With gas enough to make it to Church on fumes,
And change enough to feast from another 99 cent menu.
At the end of the day-
As I changed the channels,
I found myself to be 3 numbers off the draw!
Well... Thank heaven I've been lucky as hell
NOT to be anyone worth mentioning
On the Channel 7 News!

Valerie,

These days we're lucky if we have that .99 cents left for the meal. (lol) Very down to earth writing. I'm not much into lottery tickets but I do know that $ 7.77 for three lbs. of pork chops is a good deal. I'm also happy I'm in walking didtance to my church. I guess when you actually think about it just having enough air to breathe makes us lucky. Peace, Love and Blessings Always, Paul.
