Still Smoking

Many times I find myself writing in the cemetary where my Uncle was buried. I often watch other people who are visiting and wonder what their stories are.

A young man comes alone

And stands before a gravestone

Standing as strait and tall

As a new suit

But he’s not wearing a suit

He bears a Red Sox jersey

And sucks a cigarette

      Smooth as silk

He thinks:

      Yea, Dad, I’m still smoking

      I’m gonna quit soon…
