Bobby
Bobby was a boy who lived on our street
He gave a friendly smile to everyone he'd meet
Other children laughed at him and they tried to include me
But I wouldn't laugh at Bobby who lived on our street
No I just couldn't laugh at Bobby who lived on our street
Sometimes it seemed like Bobby was in his own little world
And he held the secret to happiness, but he just wouldn't tell
There were times I'd listen to him laugh and sing
But I wouldn't laugh at Bobby who lived on our street
No I just couldn't laugh at Bobby who lived on our street
One day the other kids were getting rough and acting mean
Playing tricks on Bobby seemed like their favorite scheme
And if I took up for him, what would they think of me
But I wouldn't laugh at Bobby who lived on our street
No I just couldn't laugh at Bobby who lived on our street
Well it got down to the wire and I was standing face to face
With the bully who led them all and I was ready to put him in his place
Just then Bobby stood between us, and held us in a tight embrace
The bully shook his head and turned away
The bully just hung his head and walked away
You see Bobby was on a special mission from the Lord
Things like ignorance, cruelty and prejudice he could not afford
And the boy they said couldn't learn that day taught me
Yes I learned a lot from Bobby who lived on our street
I'll always remember Bobby who lived on our street
