It seems amidst all the turmoil of the world, each day brings word of Manís new discoveries. Today, Cameron became only the 3rd man ever to witness the quiet of the planetís deepest unknown; Science Daily published ďLearning Best When You Rest: Sleeping After Processing New Info Most Effective.Ē How often do we reflect on these tip-of-the-iceberg events?

Beyond Quiet

While neuroscience probes deeper
Into that place beyond quiet
Where radiator rumble
Refrigerator hum
Pipe rattling
Ceases to be
The why of our hidden thinking core
Remains undiscovered

Even as a dog knows
Beneath opening and closing mouth yawns
An alley cat fathoms
While cleaning silently in the night
Adults know little
Of the silence of thought beyond
Save the innate noise that precedes
Pursuit of such quiet revealing

Insight remains reluctant
Fearful of its own discovery
Where lexicons unknown
Will articulate shadowed inflorescence
Where blooms of vision will implore
Just as a baby discerns
Sight's first experience
And pleads for more

Always tenuous
Remains accessible to the courageous
Returning the joy of awe
To those fearless of time

We can only wonder

Will destiny's dawn reveal
A rare sense of security
When serenity becomes fate's guide into darkness
For the moment
Light continues

Reminds me of the quote from Nelson Mandela's inaugural speech, that it's not "our dark that frightens us most, but our light". And we have all heard of those amazing insights and inventions of the Greats that first came to them, at least in part, through dreams' subconscious work. I very much like how you have put these thoughts together. I especially like the juxtapose of the perhaps unborn infant:

Just as a baby discerns
Sight's first experience
And pleads for more

... I have always wondered what they "see" and "learn to understand" within the shadows of the womb and how they then relate that once born - but I think it will be a long while yet before science takes us there! Nice topic! xx
