To know oneself seems clear when we overcome the formidable challenge needing to be understood; arguably, we create our own reality. Yet, many would retreat, given the most obstinate challenge faces us in the mirror every day.

Except You

What do you do
You who rush to be somewhere
Knowing others clamor to jump ahead
To be there waiting to push you back

What do you do
You whose dreams remain tenuous
Without the courage to risk
Whose narrow window of time ticks backward
For fear of the future
Who needs what others wish to prevent
To stand upon you own weathered peak?

Inclement passage need not be feared
For the route only you know
Traverses through your own created clouds
Revealing sunlight you also create
Above the storms no one else can own
Except you

yes, some storms are self-created. The hand of fate seems to have a wicked sense of humour when you seem to stop creating your own mess.

you would make a good guide not too pushy.

Interesting circumstances you present, Odin. The first two verses of the poem are question a person's ability when they see the path they want to steer their life toward are plugged up with seemingly insurmountable obstacles, and whether or not you indented it to be, the person will likely give up because they don't have the courage to try harder. The last verse is telling those same people to carry on because there is a way to rise above the obstacles.
