Lying strewn are the intentions
of good and evil men
upon that divan of invention
of all manner of sin
that conveniently we label convention
then quickly do it again

We shout love as reason to kill
for God and country our fervor lusts
glazed patriot’s eye casts murderous chill
above fruited plain and fleshly crust
miser and money man join for the thrill
but dawn’s early light is really the dusk

The day has ended and found in want
the night will fail her favorite son
derision delayed must surely haunt
manslayers dodging the sun
ended now his furious flaunt
in a game of losers, he has won
