When we lose someone and pray for a sign

She set and she cried

Her grief could not be contained

On the bench in front of the stone engraved

With her husbands name

Illness conquered her lover

God came to take him home

Heart filled with grief

Empty of feeling...all alone

Each day she came prayng for a sign

From up that would show

that in heaven was her love

Each night she dreamed of his hands

touching her face

Memories of years spent loving

Would never be erased

She brought a flower to the grave that day

Sat on the bench and with tears in her eyes

She started to pray

God , "Show me a sign, please let me know

that he is in heaven with you

Cause i love him so.....

Snow was falling softly all around

It formed a small mound on the ground

She heard a whisper that said ,"Look!"

Turning her head toward her husbands grave

two soft handprints before it were made

God answers our prayers when we are so grieved

All He asks of us is to believe

So very touching, Kathy, and albeit heartbreaking, one can feel the solace in the sight of the soft hand-prints. Beautiful write. ~Hugs, Elizabeth

That is so beautiful Kathleen and so touching. It made me cry, today I visited the cemetry and took some daffodils for my aunt who lived with us and was more like a mum to me as it is the anniversary of her death today, I also took some red roses for Steve my boyfriend who died as the 6th march is the day we started going out. I was sat at the cemetry and felt so alone, I looked for a sign, I am not sure what but just something to comfort me and let me know I was not alone. I did not get a sign and walked away heavy hearted but I believe that I was meant to read your poem today, it has brought me comfort, Thank you. God bless. Baz
