Sorrow fills a bitter heart
mourning hope..
regretting faith.

Am I alone at this late hour..
left to ponder
left to die.

Time stands still
the tomb of night
waits for light awakening.

I too wait..
patient and sincere
while nothing moves, nothing breathes.

Silence reigns
shhh...
can't you feel it?

I am an island
separated
a grape without the vine.

The silence a rift between us
alone..
no one here but me.

Thoughts are all I have
of life, of love..
or death.. dying... alone.

Failures haunt a waking nightmare
better to die
better to live//

Sorrow fills a bitter heart
mourning hope..
regretting faith.

Darkness.. is all that I am.
alone I wait
at this late hour.

It doesn't last though..this late hour.
the sounds of dawn
life anew in splendor..

Surreal by contrast..
light to dark..
silence..to triumphant life.

Life is a flipping coin..
hope is met by disbelief..
joy confronts deepest sorrow.

The light does return..
the silence fades
solitude now a memory..

It's a new day..
time to live

reflecting on the darkness

preparing evermore

to survive that late hour.

Beautiful, poignant and well written. I have had many nights like this myself.
