Oh, If I Should Die Today (For Joseph's Challenge)

Oh, If I Should Die Today

Oh if I should die today; I
would certainly pray-
That I'd come back a light; A
radiance to show the way

A warm and nurturing spirit, a
needful like to grow-
For a tree to tower; A rose
to bloom-
A joyous smile; To replace
sadness in a room

Maybe I would wrap; A lost
and lonely child-
Hug them tight and hold
them; To tame the
beast so wild

If one day dawn should find;
that darkness is it's plight-
I'd spread my heart so full-
and share with it my light-

I'd not forget the sailor; Tossed
mercilessly upon the sea-
Through nightly fog banks; Thick
and cold-
I'd be their hope to see

But most of all I'd want to be;
The spark in young lovers eyes-
To fill their world with open doors-
Dreams; Wishes; and Sighs

Your poems have been a beacon for me in dark times. I know there IS light at the end of the tunnel; I just wish (as you do) that there was more light on this end.
