A few of my thoughts that I jotted into my journal this morning. Perhaps not really a poem, but certainly from my heart-sgh

A Moment of Thanksgiving

Stepping outside, I welcome the birth of a new day

Pausing for a moment to breathe in the cool morning air

I watch in awe as a paintbrush quietly colors the clouds

And the light from angels turns golden their edges

Haloed by the rising sun

The mountain stands proud and purple

A symbol of unyielding strength and grace

All is silent as I absorb the beauty of the emerging day

I feel my spirit slip into a new dimension of awakening

Amazed by the beauty that surrounds me and graces my vision

A chevron of geese drift across the morning sky

Their voices calling out encouragement to all who listen

I lay awe-struck in my hammock reflecting upon my blessings

Surrounded by more than I understand or could have ever hoped for

I watch as leaves hop along the grass aided by a soft breeze

And know that this moment, this lifetime, was created just for me

How great and how small I feel within the grand scope of it all

In silent prayer, I take a moment to give thanks for this new day

For all that I am and for this life that I have been granted

For family and good friends and for my birth in this free land

One of the feral cats that I care for  (I call him "Magic")

Stops by for a morning scratch before he has his breakfast

Reminding me that only with a filled spirit does hunger truly cease

I wonder if he knows that his trust has taught me this lesson

I can taste the excitement of the day pouring into the crisp morning air

While the warm sun chases the shadows of night from the mesa

The wind whispers a prayer of Thanksgiving, I inhale the breath of God

And understand that all of life is a blessing

I don't know how I missed these beautiful words and music. Having visited my brother in Phoenix I know how magical a desert morning can be.

I understand too Sherry that life is a blessing and I should be thankful that I can at least enjoy the beauty of the day, even when it snows. But there are those times that I feel that what's the use. Everytime I turn around someone in my "family" is cursing my birth. This is such a beautifully painted landscape, and should be in Louvre for all to enjoy, that is how I see the majestic purple mountains, the geese and the clouds, the sun rising, and your kitty "Magic" having his breakfast. This could be considered a story poem, or a free verse. But whatever we call it, it is beautiful. Thnx for sharing sis. May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, stubborn and determined to a fault, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your still very sad and terrified little sister, Barbie

Wonderful! Certainly could be classified as a poem! Great presentation as well.. Wonder though if in future writing you could get away from the cliché.. Such as "V-shaped patterns" Might better have been described as:

A chevron of geese or a wedge of geese..

Keep up the journaling!

Not really a poem?? Are you KIDDING me?? This is absolutely the purist form of poetry I know, flowing straight from the heart and mind that conceived it and unadulterated onto the page in it's purest essence. And what a picture you give us! Thanksgiving indeed - and what to be thankful for! Love the acknowledgement that the moment has been created for you and you alone... that really moves me too, when I am blessed enough to encounter such times - few and far between in my experience as I don't tend to roam outdoors in solitude too early or too late... much to my chagrin; I really should make time for it - must put the rest of life into a different perspective. These are times of truly feeling a deep oneness with creation that reaches right into the core of our being and centres us, too. Marvellous work, Sherry. Thank you. LOL Kate xx
