Here is a segment from the newly published "Broken Windows, Reflections of a Fool

The heart’s rain

Cries out to the roof

And beats across the windowpane

The heart is a lonely refugee

Seeking shelter from love’s last refrain

But wasn’t it the heart that said

“The journey was worth the pain?

And all those treasured little moments

You spent so foolishly in vain”

And you, the silent observer

Sitting outside your soul

Refusing admittance to the one who will put you to the test

Secure in the false knowledge

Of what you once thought was best

For yourself

And for your weathered heart

Yet both will become hopelessly entangled again

Yet remain so far apart

Great poem. There is much emotion and much to think about. Love your wording and the way your lines come together. Nicely done!

Awesome. Great insight into the complex, continually conflicted soul. Liz
