I hate this morning
With it's pale blue sky
Promising another scorcher
When I still haven't recovered from yesterday
Running on no sleep
Because of the fucking mosquitoes
And the heat
And a persistent voice
Repeating the same words over and over
Until I seriously think
"This is it, I'm really going to lose my mind"
My head is throbbing
And the voice is, at least for now, quiet
The dog is fed and walked
And I should have enjoyed
The early morning peace
But I think I must be a sociopath
And unable to appreciate anything
What I wouldn't give for a storm
But this is a "heat wave"
And the closest I'll get to a storm
Is the fucking sprinkler
And I seriously consider this for a moment
Running through the sprinkler
Like a little kid, like a lunatic
But I can't handle the mosquitoes
And instead I stay inside
And bitch about the outside
And wish for either a storm
Or some demerol.

love how this poem begins w/ such an unexpected oddity. who expects to hear about hating a morning of blue skies? i like how the rambling goes on in an unorganized manner, just as you would expect such a speaker.
