Celebrating our 50th Anniversary at Bellagio in Las Vegas with "Elvis"

Anniversary Parvenu

                                       Hoping to enhance my image,

                                       Old Perfume,
                                       you ask to go.
                                       You're like Grandmother's music box
                                       playing tunes of the twenties.
I cannot take you with me tonight!
As I dress for the dance,
                                       seeing you through tears,
                                       I remember.
Once you were young and spicy
Like High Heels in my closet-
now just a dollop of memoirs.
There you sit prim with nostalgia,
                                       Prim with pride.
                                       You made your debut-
                                       aroma perfect:
you caught my man of fifty years!
                                       On second thought-
                                       let us reconsider.
                                       You wish to dance?
                                       Come, help us celebrate.
                                       Lend me your last drop,
                                       Brave Girl,
                                       just one more night.
