All I ever wanted was for you to genuinely want me in your life.

If not a lover, a partner, a significant other....

If nothing else, a friend.

A shoulder to cry on.

But now you want to come to me with everything.

Your troubles with love, they aren't with me.

I finally got what I wanted... but I'm not ready.

You need me, you want my help.

But my heart is breaking behind my smile.

You want her, and it has been a long while.

I knew you'd move on eventually.

But I'm not over you.

Why are you over me?

The worst part is, you think you've finally made me happy.

I know EXACTLY this of which you share via your verses, Kacie. And yes, sadly, as John has written, it is a universal and ever present theme in this world/life. I find your poem achingly poignant and meaningful. I wish you love and my very best sentiments are expressed to you.
