Allow my thoughts to flow
From my
Head and Heart, down my arm
And into each finger that is clutching this pencil
I am trying to ignore it
Maybe I'm frightened
maybe I am frightened
Dad? Why did you say that to me
I was just a little girl
just a little girl
I even used my very own money!
I wanted to share my excitement
Pride was bubbling inside of me
bubbling inside

Your response Damned near killed me
Damned near killed me!
I tried in vain to gain your approval
Why did you EXPECT perfection
I do not even remember hearing you say......
I Love You
I'm a big girl now
It's OK to disagree

I almost feel your tears as yoyu stand behind me
Finally realizing the pain I suffered
I need to sit back and relax now
just maybe
I will hear what I desire the most
