Pyroclastic Serge

His name though it be allowed

Just a dull clod of earth’s gob

Dribbling down his face

The silent age of stubble

Clings and ramifies

Flanks unbowed

Coruscating green warmth

Underfoot we dig

She deceives the benighted

Cold is her heart

Her art is treachery

Murmurs of deep red blood!

Eddying inside her

Innards flow like water

Unseen they boil

Earth’s umbilical cord

Defies in its severance

Spurting veins unseen

Upward ever upward

Mercurial mother

Mirthless in her ironclad might

Her birth means death

She knows only wrath

Our children!

Their screams!

Run with us!

We echo theirs with smiles of futility.

Seeking the light

She rages and runs us down

Merciless huntress

Disemboweled by time

Futility marks the day

With blackest ink

A quill of fire

Strikes out those who flee her blight

Seared lungs freeze in perpetuity

The flame of Rome’s might

Entombed

In roiling walls of soot

We cower without sanctuary

Writhing our perennial scream

Marks the scrape of frightened mouths.

Unearthed we huddle and breathe

One lingering ossified breath of love and finality.

Interesting work. The ego bursts with all of the attention from such a talented individual! How does one deserve the time and effort that you spend creating this . . . stuff?

Very descriptive in such an expressive manner, the finality of it all, well written...

Be always safe,
Karen
