Since Nov. when my dad died, life has dealt me one bad hand after another.  I'm a born optimist and I lost all of that.  BUT... I'm finding it again.  This is not great stuff, here, but it's been sooooo long since I wrote or even had a poem pop in me brain.  Thanks, kids. (YES!  I'm still a liberal... let's not get nuts, now). grin

poor pitiful pat
her life was like this, then like that

depression set in
she became very thin
her days becamed numbered
each moment encumbered (is that a word?!)
bouncing back wasn't there
she cut off all her hair
she stopped calling her friends
pat feared getting "the bends"  (egads!)

then she finally took sleep
it was long; it was deep
no nightmares, a dream
then she smiled, didn't scream

I know pat quite well
the poor thing went through hell

thanks to all who have missed me (er, I mean pat)
your kind words finally kissed me (ok, ok, it's me)

*smile*

Dear, dear Katy. I've missed you in many places and ways. I'm so glad I got the nudge from Authors Den that gave you back to me. I am sorry for the loss of your dad. I know the pain of losing loved ones, but of course no one knows just what it means to another person. These poems are wonderful, and I'm reading them just after reading the small Ogden Nash book called "Bed Riddance." I hear echoes.

I hear you loud and clear, Katy!
Though I am far past such horrendously dealt emotions (I hope, anyway), I can certainly sympathize with anyone who has gone through these things.

Write on, Poet, never rest Your pen.

I have enjoyed the reading of "Poor Pitiful Pat". An outstanding composition painted with wit-wise ontologic colors.

Katy,

So glad to hear you are finding time to write again; sorry that you have had a string of bad luck. I can relate; see my blog. (You'll have to find it, but it's there. If you have any questions, e-mail me; I'll tell ya the whole story.) You are indeed in my prayers. But you haven't lost your style; this is too hilarious! Thanks for the grins today!

You've said a lot here in this little rhyme. Losing a parent is extremely difficult, so don't judge yourself for grieving.
I'm glad you're making progress, a day at a time, and able to write in such an upbeat manner.
Thank God for friends who care!

God bless you today!

Katy!!!!!!

(((HUGS))), first of all, please accept my deepest sympathies on the loss of your Daddy. I'm sorry.

Second, welcome back--you've been missed.

Third, this poem reflects a lot of emotional turmoil, yet shines with a spunky, never give up attitude--thata girl. :) And yes, "emcumbered" is a word. :) It means "burdened" or "to hold back the motion of." Well done!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
