I took my turtle
For a walk today
The sun was shining
The air was clear
We stopped to rest
Along the way
It only took
A year.

I taped a string
To her little shell
I packed myself
Some lunch
Then off we strolled
O'er hill and dell
She said she liked my
Berry punch.

I taught her to sing
Some rebel songs
She was great at
She wore little sandals
I wore purple thongs
It was lovely to see
The sun rising.

She never complained
(I didn't either)
She wove flowers
To make me a locket.
When night came to call
The grass was my bed
And I let her retire
In my pocket.

But I'll wager you were singing "By The Risin' Of The Moon."

This was just too racy for me, Katy. It was neat, though, and I loved it.

This poem is so cute, it can actually be turned into a children's book with some illustration. Wow! I like this a lot!

Loved it, and had turtles in my childhood. Sometimes see them crossing the back country roads in summer. In fact, there is a turtle crossing sign up the road from my trailer. Don't see none cross there yet though.
