The Higher Road

God...

Please, help me with my conflicts

Help me ease my pain

Help me to repent of sin

And never return again.

Help me to take a higher road

Help me to forge the way

Help me to understand thy will

And look to a brighter day.

Help me to see what you see

Beneath my troubled breast

Help me to have the courage

To always do my best.

Forgive me, please, of falling short

Of blessings you have promised

Help me to stand firm and strong

When stumbling through dark mists.

Help me uplift the weary,

Feed the hungry, clothe the cold

To aid and serve my fellow man

Like you in days of old.

Teach me to listen deep within

To hear your call to me

To recognize thy loving voice

To Come and follow thee.

I can really relate to this message. I think we all fall short and pray for that guidance. I liked this alot.

Hello F R Macy,

I like this prayer poem, it lifts up the reader's heart and inspires "to reach" higher, not exactly "to please" but to live the natural inclination of one's soul for a better goal, a higher good. Tinges of guilt for human inadequacy color the poem every now and then, but a redemptive resolve in the last lines confirm the HOPE that it is really God "Who works in us to will and to do according to His purpose."(Philippians 2:13)
