Heartstrings

Lost in thought and wandering, looking without seeing

Receiving silent images of people always fleeing.

My destination is unknown, I travel a lonesome road

Thoughts and emotions of dire times I wish I could unload.

As through a mist of darkness a voice fluttered as a dove

Called my name and said "Hello, where have you been my love?"

A frozen disbelieving stare my gaze fell on this vision

A woman of untold beauty...reality or apparition?

Her eyes were ageless, spheres of love, filled with adoration

Instantly, I stood transfixed lost in intoxication.

Unfolding as an ancient scroll, my clouded mind came clear

I saw her reaching out to me beckoning to come near.

Electrifying and intense her touch ran through my being

Her warmth, her love, and womanly charm the reason for my seeing.

Strangely familiar from the past a feeling quite intense

Came from my heart, the frozen part, a passion so immense.

"Where have you been?" I heard her ask, truthfully could I reply?

"On a lonesome road waiting for you to end my eternal sighs."
