As English as tea and crumpets

And eyes of honey brown,

A woman with hair of onyx black

Sat near me on the ground.

As silent as the morning mist

And fragrant as the rose

An angel, I quietly asked myself?

Certainly, Heaven knows.

Almost certain she’s not aware

Of the circumstance  I‘m in

It’s best to sit and quietly keep

These feelings deep within.

To have the words of Byron

Course through these veins of mine

Would satisfy my poets urge

To pen something divine.

Magnetic as the Moon to tide

The oceans ebb and flow

My heart responded to her call

Yet, the story can’t be told.

So quietly, I watch her read

A book of her desire

And gaze upon her beauty rare

Until our time expires....
