Collaboration by Peter Paton and Huda Orfali

Stairway to Heaven

I have dream, a vision still
To bridge the gap of enmity
Our destination makes it worth the while
We can make it happen, with our force of will

Tis an elusive dream
Imbued with the smell of death
Marred with the color of war
And the sound of a scream

Corpses line its path along the way
Memories lost to intolerable pain
Longing for a drop of a misty rain
And the break of a brand-new day

A day when the pains of war
Cease to exist in our divided world
Cease to torment our blessed souls
A day like we have never seen before

When sons of Abraham journey together
And the path of Paul who made his trip
From Damascus is traveled by all
Jews, Christians and Muslim as brothers

There is a way to bring it to fruition
When we drop the scales of doubt
We will ascend that spiral staircase
That joins the East to the West

Huda, this reminds me of your poem "Share Jerusalem"

Peace is the way, the dream and breath
That shall bring life after years of Death.

I thought the visual was a bronze eye when the page first popped up.... and no wonder!! A visionary write of insight and understanding that trains the heart in the ways of a hard-won peace: no pain, no gain. As long as there is anything other than selflessness in the mind of man, he will always turn his face towards domination or conquest. Sadly the horrors of war are the outcome. A most noble collaboration, nobly expressed. TY and may you both be blessed in your endeavours. This contains elements of both the hawk and the dove, the soldier and the ballerina. Very visceral and beautiful. LOL Kate xx
