My God

My God, I cry out,
For you to end this pain.
I call out to you ‘why?’
5 years, 6 deaths,
all people close to me.
Half just teenagers,
in the prime of their lives,
cut down and taken from us.
I call out to you ‘why?’

My God, I cry out,
I need your guidance now.
6 Christians are dead,
and I don’t understand.
My grief is overwhelming,
my pity for their families is staggering.
It seems to be more than I can bear.
When will it ever end?
Did you take them Lord?
I call out to you ‘why?’

My God, I cry out,
Did the king of this world take them,
if so, why did you let him?
Or was this part of your perfect plan?
If so, I don’t understand it.
I know that Your ways are not my ways,
But I really need to understand.
I call out to you ‘why?’

My God, I cry out,
I need your hand to guide me,
I need to seek your face,
I cannot do this without you.
Not another funeral,
I don’t want to lose anyone else,
I want to hide in your presence.
But I can’t find peace,
I call out to you ‘why?’

My God, I cry out,
I want to seek you more.
I want you to comfort me,
But I feel resentment,
that things like this happen,
and I know that is wrong,
but I just can’t help it.
I need forgiveness, but still,
I call out to you ‘why?’
