Judge, Jury and Executioner
Isnít it enough that we are judge and jury,
Without being executioner as well?
Do we have to exercise our fury,
By sending a person straight to hell?
Justice or mercy, which do you prefer?
Life or death, do you want that power?
Why canít they both occur?
Why do we always seek to devour?
I met a man jailed for murdering his wife.
He was put behind those iron bars,
Until it was discovered that he didnít wield the knife.
But he's still left with 10 years of scars.
Is it worth killing an innocent man?
When does the risk become accepted?
Canít we devise a better plan?
And for once do the unexpected.
Notice how there are so many questions?
Our current system is like a cancer.
Iím open to any suggestions,
All I want is a fair and merciful answer.
