Happy Ever After by Lisa M Tidrow Friday, July 26, 2002 Share Print Save Become a Fan Do you believe in Fairy Tales and happy ever after? One day your prince will come and fill your life with laughter When I'm looking through the bottom of a glass of Jack Then I believe and I dare to dream to take a hit of crack Cause anything can happen When you're lying to yourself What's the point in trying to pretend Once upon a time Was just a line you fed me Well I guess it was always your dime But now see where it led me I call out for rescuing but no one comes my way no one comes to save the day so I open another bottle and take another toke cause when I'm sober reality crashes and I find myself strung out and broke Broken apart, coming away, ripping at the seams You build me up then break me down You tell my anything is possible I can reach that gilded crown But it's lies lies lies lying on your tongue better that you had spoon fed me truth and let me wade in the dregs of reality than filled my head with lies about the goodness of humanity Give me a drink and sit a spell I'll give you the real deal What is reality anyway Just who's behind the wheel Hello! Hello! Hello! Hell! Daylight�s coming and shadows flee Now I'm scared at what I'll see Fiction or reality Lift the glass, now I'm ok cause I'm seeing through my crystal It ain't no ball but it's magic that'll get me through the day Cause I need it to see my prince riding on his white steed to rescue me from life to fulfill my need, my greed, my lust for life He'll take me for his wife Bartender! pour me another glass to help me keep up this farce....

This really is a stark reality of so many. And I think you have captured the emotions all too well. AS only one who's been there can tell. Excellent.

This very much represents a harsh reality, and you express it well. I think it's just to wishy-washy in it's style for me to give it the full 10, but the content alone is worth the poem. Bravo.
