Galileo was interrogated, imprisoned and tormented until he recanted his blasphemous, heretic vision that the Earth was spherical, and untill he denied the nonesensense about Earth rotating around Sun! Are the same dynamics with us in our hyper-free World without even knowing? Is any one of us who dares swim against the reigning current, subject to the same dynamics suitably modernised?!

(for Greenpeace,Ronald Laing and Ilmaz Guney and Galileo Galilei)

(Input):

I am floating with ether in my blood

over the rising stones of tomb cities

metropolis necropolis metropolis

over the petrified forest
petrified trees

trees
straightened into patterns of conformity

polished
squared
painted reformed

they have even set the trees in line for a salute...

a V.I.P.
none less than the Grand Vizier will inspect and refute..
and all trees had better look trimmed and straight
all ready for the daily march..
of pomp, circumstance and of starch
all to attention!
along the Boulevard
and under the stony arch
with the Grand Vizier plumed and swaying like a duck!
……………………………………

the great leader inspects the scene

a criss cross forest of violence, hate
and artificial strife
deserving uproar applause and pledges of loyalty for life

(counter-input)

my ears deafened with the applause

I look with my heart’s eye
listen with my bones:

the lines are black but in my heart they break
more lines more lines into the shaded horizon

I listen to the sadness of everchanging trees dwarfed petrified!
weeping willows

everchanging linear straight hard and how

how can you encompass pulsation?
Bottled rhythm how?

(petrification into maturation)

oh flashing blobs of sudden despair
in the darkness
in houses of fixed wisdom
in the cold cold vaults...
of absolute certainty

HELP THOSE EYES TO SOME REST!
dull this consciousness please!

the lines are black
the earth is flat

the lines are black
the earth is flat

Galileo testified
the earth is fixed straight and flat!

Applause
Uproar

FINIS!

.....

(heresy)

the lines are black
but in my heart they break

the lines are black
but in my bones they die

the norms are made and laid
but in my blood they fade

the measurements are exact
the limits are compact
the laws are just

the norms are civil civilised
secure secured
lauded applauded defended to the hilt

the earth is flat

BUT IT IS NOT FLAT!!!

leo leo leo galileo leo leo leo galileo galileo gali gali galileo

IT IS NOT FLAT! IT IS FLAT!

(torture)

oh burning blobs
of infinite despair in light
die
die
die now.........

.......and let me rest

(prayer)
eyes..........sleep

delicious fluid of perception... freeze in tired ears

dry....

intimate moisture
of engulfing tenderness

nose
mouth
muscle
loving skin
listening bones...be no more

t'is the age of angels now

(rebellion and sin)

black lines of superb monotony
lies of concordance
lies concordant magnificent present unborn
untrue

edifice edifice edifice applause uproar

mass furore

edifice

edifice....
edifice........

(vision,compassion and lamentation)

angel guardians of this unnatural peace
angel custodians of captive genes
angel guardians of the deformed trees of infinite growth...

behold the magnificence that chokes the stars

behold the superb obscenity of this magic

T H E S U N I S C O L D

the rising fragments of frozen stones
reach now the sky
sky-scraper high
stifled in infinite glory
..and cry

the rising fragments of frozen stones
reach now the sky ... in tombs of overwhelming power
poised on traps of aggressive success
they play computer games

sky-high, they toast omnipotent power,
as they invent more computer games
and weapons of mass destruction

and contrive to dull any remnant sensation

in all manner
of artificial thrill and pulsation
and war games

and information

and free elections

.............
and more games

During Galileo's time, a spherical earth was a Muslim concept. Galileo's claim was blasphemous because it denied the Catholic concept of a flat earth and supported the Muslim concept of a round one. It was at Qurtabah (Cordoba) that Columbus learned that the earth was round and hatched his plans to sail west to reach India and steal their gold. The tragedy is that Galileo was just one of many people made to deny their minds to appease those yielding the power to initiate force. And though today people in most countries are not killed for their ideas, even Mr Lear who designed the Lear jet could not initially convince people of lesser intellect that his design would sell.
