Heart disease took my father from me, too early. It was only when it tried to take me too several years after that I truly realised exactly who and what I had lost before.

Sitting down beside, beneath

old orchard’s walnut tree

Watching the daylight

flicker through, dreaming

you’re still here with me

Long gone far from forgotten

Flat cap and tufty hair

Coronation Street and

Benny Hill, sighing

Watching over an empty chair

Seeing the autumn of our years

Sowing the goodness of your soul

Reap the harvest from our seeds

I’m the son of a farming man

Forever did you try to be

With all your innocence

The gentlest man

tough enough, family

Mum, my brothers, and me

Seeing the autumn of our years

Sowing the goodness of your soul

Reap the harvest from our seeds

I’m the son of a farming man

They took him I wasn’t ready

I hadn’t told him so

How much I really love him

He’s my dad, please

don’t let him go

I’m the son of a farming man

The son of a family man

I wish what is was then

Followed but didn’t know

Standing there beside

Supporting me, please

don’t ever let me go

Seeing the autumn of our years

Sowing the goodness of your soul

Reap the harvest from our seeds

I’m the son of a farming man

Edward John the farming man

In Memory of a wonderful man.

John Richards, April 2006

Most heartfelt and endearing tribute to immortalize your father who I am certain was a deserving man. God bless....

Be always safe,
