I'm listening to those songs again.
The wind in your hair,
flying down the parkway
songs.
The ones that bring the scent of
summer to your mind.
The ones that make you
want to run and jump
and feel your heart pound in your ears.

The kind of songs that make you
want to fall in love again.
Even though you've found it a few times
and discovered it wasn't what you
wanted.
Somehow the melody reminds you
of the good times.
Brings you back to things you didn't
really want to remember.

I hate thinking about the good times.
Because it makes me regret the end.
It makes me want to go back and change the outcome.
I know I can't. I could never do it.
But my mind won't let it go.
It nags at me while the melody
claws at my defenses.

I hate these songs.
I don't care about the wind in my hair
(it's annoying anyway)
I could live without the scent of summer
in my face.
And if I wanted to feel my heart pounding in my ears
I join an organized sport.
(all of this is so artificial).
(i hate the hot weather.)
