If There Were No Dreams

* Land of the muse challenge:
To use the phrase: “If there were no dreams”

If There Were No Dreams

If there were no dreams,
Think of how it would be,
How could we live,
If yesterday was all there was?

Life is a challenge,
Filled with despair and pain,
But we can dream of a better life,
Of deep forests with crystal streams,
Or watching the moon rise,
With someone by our side…

We hold these thoughts in our hearts,
It gives us strength to face the day.
At night when our hearts are weary,
And the world has worn us down,
I close my eyes and think of you,
And the love I have found…

We live in different worlds you and I,
But I dream of one day sharing the same sky,
And though you may make another your bride,
In my dreams it is I!

Oh at night when I finally close my eyes,
I am living a different life!
Last night I was dancing in the snow,
Under the soft moonlight’s gentle glow;

And I was not cold.

Baby I need you to know,
Tomorrow is all I have,
And those dreams may come true ,
How could I live if I could not dream of you?

dreams like this are the reason why we live, i think, double lives. the lives that go on whilst we sleep, and those we live during waking hours. they compliment each other, i think, and, sometimes, intersect in the world of our creation in that moment between waking and sleep, when everything is possible, and not only possible, but probable. a soulful write, sista.

A philosophically romantic and romantically inspiring write. Wonderful to read these lines a few times over and appreciate them for their different aspects.

Dreams are as good, if not better than the real thing Retta !
For in reality, it is almost impossible for someone or something to live up to our estimations or wishes !
Hold on to those positive and vibrant dreams forever, dear friend !

The yearning is, at times, almost as good as the real thing.
Dreams make it so... if we're willing to allow them.
Good pen here. Soft, lilting, dreamy. Near perfection.
