You and I

I’m sorry I’m acting so strange

acting as if something’s changed

It’s just that miss having you around

I guess it was your absence that’s got me down

Please tell me where you are

Are you near or are you far?

Where did you go?

Please let me know

I’m lost without you

Please believe that its true

I can’t go anywhere without you by my side

How did you get out of my sight?

Did I do something to offend you?

Have I somehow, forsaken you?

That’s not possible, it’s really absurd

but then, you left me without a word

You left me without a trace

and its more shame than sadness on your face

It’s like you brought down this confusion fog

Why oh why, do you treat me like an old dog?

One minute you love me, the next you don’t

You promise you will but really, you won’t

Why do you insist on torturing me this way?

I could leave but I can’t bear to be away

There doesn’t even seem to be a slight glimmer of hope

I can’t understand why I couldn’t cope

I should escape while I can

but I can’t – I don’t even have a plan

I’m well and truly lost

Couldn’t you just come back to help me across?

Couldn’t you give me the answer

to make everything so much better?

Please tell me if you have left me for another

either way its not going to make things any less harder

I promise that I’ll cry endless tears for you

I promise that I can never get over you

But please tell me something about you and I

I don’t know anything, might as well have a blind eye

Tell me anything so I’ll be satisfied

Least I know its not wasted tears that I’ve cried

The worst part is not knowing. Once we know what the problem is, we feel that we have a chance in solving it. One guaranteed chance is prayer. It's a powerful thing. I have been right where this poem takes me so many times. It sucks bad. Beautifully done and heartfelt. Love, Beth

Amazing piece. For a friend? For a lover? Why would someone leave like that? A great piece.
