You are trapped as if in amber

Almost ten years now since that day

While we swallowed the lumps in our throats

And had to look away

I know you never wanted to live like this

That it is brutally unfair to you

That decision was never really in our hands

It was never our right to decide what to do

And they say you are fading

They say sickness will be a blessing that you knew

Soon, as days shorten, the winter will take you

Each time I look into those eyes

Piercing blue, looking right into my soul

I know they did the wrong thing

You will never again be whole

But it was never in our hands

Never the childrens’ decision to make

Instead that of a tired, shattered wife

Holding on so she would not break

In some strange way time has stood still

You are trapped in eternity

And I feel that lump rise in my throat yet again

To know that love now feels like the enemy

Keeping you alive so we don’t have to lose you

Has ever a more selfish thing been done

I know those dark, gray skies are lurking

Behind a cold, heartless sun

The doctors say you are fading

They say sickness will be a blessing you knew

They tell us as the days grow short

One day winter will take you

Very deep statements:

"You are trapped in eternity

And I feel that lump rise in my throat yet again

To know that love now feels like the enemy"

Flip side: Eternity is a trap only for those who are left behind.
Winter always brings another spring.

blessin's on a very deep poem Cade,
