Four years gone now

Slipped through my hands

Four years without you

I drowned trying to reach dry land

I want to tell you how much I loved you

But I donít know how to start

How can I explain that there is no room

In a broken, empty heart

Loneliness and desolation

Weigh in at nothing on the scale

They leave space for nothing else

Yet somehow they keep my heart in jail

Four years, how they flew by

And still I occupy this cave

Talking to your ghost at night

Telling you there is one more left to save

Four years now lost to the wind

Slipped right through my hands

Four unimaginable years without you

I drowned trying to reach dry land

I want to hear myself say these words

That there was never anyone but you

I want to hear from your lips once again

That you feel the same way too

Four years or forty, it all feels the same

I am lost and alone without you

And I cannot find a way to start

There will never be a way to explain

How in the place where you used to reside

There is now nothing left, no, nothing remains

But the shell of my empty heart

good flow of emotion to this poem ... an empty heart is indeed a painful one ...

Powerfully expressed, shattering write--the pain is as evident now as then--that's why we should never forget. Thank you for remembering

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
