erum: I see you haven't submitted anything for a while and that all of the poetry has hurt. I'm sure that if you look deep enough, you'll find a victory lesson with each heartache, and that my dear poet, is the most thrilling reason to continue to write.

Greetings in Peace,
Ghazaali told us in his Mishkaat Al-Anwaar that men who do not know the mystic's vision are like beasts in that they do not rise to the heights of which a man is capable; they are worse in that they do not live up to their potential "for beasts are not given the wings on which to fly to that unseen world".
But the man who, unlike the beast, has had knowledge of God and had known Him, but lost Him suffer the pain of separation. It is a true Hell, the result of moral failure and intellectual nerve.
We should remind ourselves that our elders show us the value of organized religion, that it serves to firm the resolve of those of us who are not prone to philosophical inquiry or moral self-discipline. The ritual and symbols help to bring about a mental framework that allows God's Grace to present Truth.
But watch out for Shaytaan, the whisperer of all that you don't like to hear!
Peace in our time.
