my words...free...my mind...bonded by slavery
with my consent...the straight and narrow road
I once thought I was on...now bent, bent out of
shape but not beyond repair...
I'm not even sure if I care anymore...
I can't be who I know I'm not and I have
been performing so much that my own personality
has no resting place...
there is seemingly no space...no time...
no reason to change as they keep telling me
no matter what I do
things...will...always...be...the...same...
times haven't changed, I just read too much
believing that I could touch lives by
being real...
but what is real when there is no feeling
in my back because my backbone is long gone
every since I lost control, the drama just
goes...on...and...on...
my words, free on a page but not free
resting in the wings of my vocal cords because
they told me to
chill...out...and...don't...rock...the...boat
take what you have for what it's worth but
if I don't have me,
is...it...all...worth...it?
who am I and who ran away with the image
I wanted to be and
could I identify me if we ever met as
it seems I have been reared in an environment of
trick mirrors...
oh, self, please make yourself clearer
and deliver me past this...Sunday.
