SOMETHING ABOUT YOU

2010

I saw no flashing light or red warning sign,

Or the clouds revealing the sun’s radiant shine

That moment our paths first crossed, but I knew

There was something brilliant about you.

I heard no lofty church bells begin to ring,

Or the voices of a choir of angels sing

That moment our paths first crossed, but I knew

There was something divine about you.

I saw no winks or nods of knowing,

Or any awkward first grins showing

That moment our paths first crossed, but I knew

There was something expressive about you.

I did see my destiny, my ultimate choice,

And I heard the whisper of my small inner voice

That moment our paths first crossed; I immediately knew

Everything was unique about you.

Repetition in poetry is like a bell that chimes yet is always a pleasure to hear in the clarity of its voice. Splendid and a jewel uncovered with much delight.
