Symbolism - the ship could be my soul... ...or yours perhaps.

Escape

‘Ere darkness falls once more
within the glass prison

See
the ship
glistening white
against the backdrop
of emerald sea
and sapphire sky

Hear
the flap of mighty sails
in the heady breeze
the plaintive wails
of soaring gulls
the song of the returning tide

Smell
the scent of sentient ocean
the essence of exotic lands
borne upon the rising wind

Taste
the salt upon my lips
your lips
and close your eyes

Touch
the cool glass prison
of the vessel in the bottle

In your mind
imagine the ship free
so we set sail
upon the sea of dreams

I really like this poem a lot. Maybe because it is the emptiness of the ship alone in the sunset.
