Limericks I

A while ago I posted the "recipe" for writing a limerick in my blog here at AD. Four of the requirements are: the right number of lines, the number of beats per line, the proper rhyming pattern and that the topic should be humorous. I like to think I've fulfilled the first three at least.

Limericks I

These girls just wanted to have fun
To have fun relaxing in the sun
They forgot the sunscreen
Now they’re not so keen
It’s the light of the sun that they shun

This girl I know as Monday
Has a best friend whose name is Sunday
They’re wonderful gals
They’re the best of pals
They make of each day a fun day

A gal from the east named Rose
Met a fellow known as Ambrose
They’re seeing each other
So tells me her mother
They’re even into writing some prose

Santa has completed his tasks
In the sun now somewhere he basks
He and the missus
They surely don’t miss us
As they’re smiling from behind their masks

There once was a man from Seattle
He was always ready for battle
He had a large ranch
He perched on a branch
And thus he watched over his cattle

A guy from Altona named Tate
Tried to take me out on a date
I replied, “no way;
I don’t swing that way."
Then I simply said, “Good-bye, mate!”

I know this dancer named Lizzie
She can make her partner quite dizzy
I am still reeling
She’s already wheeling
With an old friend of mine named Izzy

There once was a girl named Kitty
She sang a most fine ditty
She was from the west
She was one of the best
Miss Kitty’s ditty was witty
