Dear Regis, I have wondered about these very same things throughout my entire life. Why have I been treated with hatred instead of love? Why did the raven pick my door to sit atop of?
The scars that have been left in my soul are open wounds that will never heal, and it is because I have wondered about all of what you have said here.
"I wonder what it is like
To be loved…
…but I wouldn’t know"
You know I can not only relate to this but I can identify in heart and soul with the very last line. Love is a fleeting shadow that keeps running just ahead of us that we cannot catch.
I agree with you so much Regis, that time does not heal all wounds where love is concerend; whether it is the love of a mate, a parent, a sibling, a friend.
Th-thank y-you for sha-shar-sharing. Yes I am cry-crying because this brought back such horrific memories no person should have to go through.
May the Lord Bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and walk by your side. With love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister Barbie.

People might say this is more of a prose type poem, but it doesn't matter. This is a very emotionally touching piece. I think everyone wonders about these things you talk about in the poem at some point in their lives. There are people who wonder what it is like to be loved, or anything else you talk of in the poem, but they never know it because it doesn't happen to them.
Time does not heal all wounds when it comes to love. When you truly fall in love with someone and they break your heart and leave you in the dust, you are scarred for life, especially if you thought the person who you fell in love with was 'the one'.
I wonder if this is something you've went through?
Good poem. Thanks for sharing.

I relate too well to this. It got me thinking- what on Earth would it be like if I was loved the way I love?
Maybe I couldn't take it. It is gifting- not about what is deserved. If anyone is trying to deserve such love- forget about it.
But- look around- and we deserve better. Even I won't deny that.
But this kind of love doesn't come back.

Regis,
There are so many kinds of love, from love of God or Higher Power, unconditional love like that of a parent or friend. Love from all of us who listen to your funny and often wise words, love of a puppy looking up at you as if a god. Love is all around you from a bright sunrise to a golden sunset. But I think you mean the love of a lover or helpmate and that love comes when it will and often when you least expect it. Yearn for passion, if you will but remember that passion is a flame that can burn out quickly while true love is a friendship that cannot fade. Let the love you already have surround your soul and the love you crave may find its way to you.
Btw, I love you, :)

Love is a gift that we give to our self; no other person can give it to us. They can give us respect, devotion, their attention, friendship, their time, honesty and many other things, but love...that comes from within. We can feel love for another, but if they don't love themselves, they will never be able to accept what it is that we feel for them. True love understands that someone else can feel the same way about us as we feel about them. Love is give and take and without those two things, someone is going to end up feeling invalidated and the relationship will either become very dysfunctional or end. If you feel that you have never been loved, it is time for some serious introspection so that you can understand why it is that you cannot accept love of another. There is no safety in love. Love is having no defenses; it is naked, raw, vulnerable and liberating. Moving forward from a bad situation is also a way that we love ourselves. Living in sadness or grief over something we no longer have control over changing, is torturing our self unnecessarily. I hope you find a way to take, Reg, because you give so very much. Heart wrenching poem.
Take care,
Sherry

Life can be quite cruel sometimes but as much as it can bring about mis-matches, it can also, in time, bring along the right person to mend and to heal. Brokeness is something we can all relate to but healing can mend us to be stronger than before. It takes an especial love to be so strong that it can not only speak on its own behalf but repair the damage done before its time. I wish and pray this for the "you" of this poem with all my heart. | It is like no experience one can explain in words though as poets many try. I have known the feeling of each of those and by that same hand known the betrayal to what I believe in. For though all that was said to me, they also said the same to another. That didn't stop the feeling those things gave me, only made me wonder many times if they truly meant them. For loves sake ... I know many women who have told me that they have never heard or felt that and with that I know that they also never hurt as deep as betrayal can. I have hope because I have been loved by many...and someday you will too find that kind of love...just keep that smile |
