And so it is...

...that we are together

...that you are half an America away
working in a northern place
...that the robin raises her young ever fearful
of the shadow of the hawk and of the feral cat
...that Venus is humbled by the sun
as billions watch in wonder
...that forest fires rage in Arizona
snow falls in the Coquihalla
and body parts arrive in the mail
in Ottawa and Vancouver
...that vestiges from Japan's misfortune
land on the beaches from Oregon to Alaska
...that a raven calls
his dark shadow passes over me
a good omen I hope
...that millions die such senseless deaths
and men are so seemingly intent upon self-destruction
...that climate warms and seas become more turbulent
and seasons even more uneasy
... that the moon is not rising
twilight is dark and dreary and the skies weep
...that turmoil runs rampant
and chaos rules the world
And yet it will all be as it should be when you come back
and I may hold you in my arms...

...for we are together

If only love alone could solve our problems--if only! But politicians and bankers don't see it that way. Where money's to be made, the rest of us can expect the worst. Yes, we should be together, but how many obstacles-sorry about this, but primarily religions-have for so long managed to separate us?
A heartfelt poem, Regis! Hope the girl comes home from the north and brings with her the rain.

Wonderful heart felt poem. Raven's are misunderstood; they are not the bad omens they have been made out to be but can be the joker. If a raven has crossed your path, 3 times even better, the raven is bringing magic, shapeshifting and creation into your awareness. BTW thanks for being the great friend that you have been to me....just by being there even when I disapppear for weeks, months and etc.

It's strange how we can be extra sensitive to the world's travails when lost in the ardour of passionate love - and yet also immune from its consequences by the power of that same love. You have spoken of such most eloquently and elegantly here, Regis. Thank you for sharing its effects so warmly. May you both continue to be richly blessed. xx

Wow! What a poem! So meaningful and deep. Thanks for sharing.

When we are together with the one we love things seem to fall into place and it all seems to be the way it should be. Nothing seems wrong or bad because we are together and always have each other no matter what.

Just one thing I noticed... "that a raven calls his dark shadow passes over me" - i would say 'passing over me' instead of 'passes over me'.
