My best friend recently passed, and this is the poem I wrote for to read at her memorial service.
A new angel dwells in heaven,
she moved in just today.
I got the dreaded phone call
saying, "Your friend has passed away."
I can't see her face or touch her hand
or tell her not to go.
I didn't get to say, "goodbye,"
or say, "I love you so."
But, I know she still can hear me.
She didn't go far away.
She dwells within my memories
and all my yesterdays.
I'll hold her image in my heart
and remember what I see.
I'll not forget the times we've shared,
My special friend and me!

How you ever got through reading this
outloud at the memorial. So much feeling.

|Angels abound among us, caressing our inner soul, knowing us and all too well, that theirs is but a goal. To touch the pain and ease the fears, to calm and soothe they must--for what they see will surely be--just us in clouds of dust. Great write.|
