I believe that the first verses of a poem come from the God. That's why I dare to call a poet "an angel”. Poet makes the rest, but the first verses (it may be in the middle part or in the last part or in the first part of the poem, that’s up to the poet) still stand there. Usually I write poems in English. But this poem came in to my mind in my mother tongue Malayalam. It happened so. Then this is a translation of the poem. I have tried my best but I am afraid that there is something missing... This poem got a huge opinion. Especially on "Love" and "Word". All agreed with "Word” but "Love", some disagreed. Some asked questions about "Dreams". "Tears" and "Patience" got some good criticism. Any way I am so happy. Here is the translation of "Jeevithathe kurichu Ellam" -All about life-. Please write your valuable remarks on this poem: davidpmohd.yahoo.com

Affection.  (Sneham)
It is the feeling,

That I kept in me,

As an-

Ever-burning light,

That I gave everyone,

Without consideration.

 Hatred. (Veruppu)

It is what,

I saw-

In my beloved people's-

Scornful looks at me.

Love  (Pranayam)

The truth,

We feel,

Only once,

To only one,

In a lifetime.

 Patience.  (Sahanam)

A

Sweet-seeping-pain.

A

Wet smile of heart;

That gives us,

A prophet's ease,

At the moments of-

Hatred and

Rejection.

 Laugh (Chiri)

The mask,

I carry on my face

To show the world.

But,

It is

My eyes,

Cheat me.

Eyes (Kannukal)

The mirror-

Of heart.

It never

Lies.

Tears. (Kanneeru)

The thing

I pour when

Every one sleeps,

Without being seen.

 It hath

The heat of-

Burning heart,

The salty taste of-

Death.

It flows down

Through the

Ashy-dreams.

Dreams.  (Swapnam)

It is like

A bangle piece.

Like the bangle-piece

Of her,

That reminiscent

Her memory.

Like the bangle piece-

I always keep in my pocket,

Near my heart.

It is a painful but

Colorful

Sight of

A broken,

Imperfect bangle.

 Word.  (Vaakku)

 "I love you"

This is the most,

Beautiful word that,

A man can recite,

To a women.

(In return too)

 She. (Aval)

The blessing

God granted me...

But,

She smiles not now.

Her eyes tell nothing.

No,

There are no tears.

But it is still.

 Farewell  (Vida)

To your innocent face,

To your smiling eyes,

To your heart that showed pity on me.

To your gracious mind...

 You.  (Nee)

 The girl;

 Came in to my life.

 With a hearty smile.

 The girl who;

 Lightened my heart;

 The girl;

 Lit a light in my mind.

 My beloved girl;

 Whom I loved a lot and a lot.

 Without knowing...

 I  (Njan)

 The man who-

 Lost his light-

 In the darkness.

 The man,

 To whom  'fate' ordered

 To be alone forever...

But....(Pakshe)

 Still,

 Love dies not...

 That is the only one thing;

 I possess as my own.

 That is enough.

 Because

 That only is,

 The truth.

.

I feel your expressive melancholy in your stanzas about Kanneeru (tears) and Swapnam (dreams) and the others. There's a spiritual quality about them. They're like an aching cry, a bittersweet memory song about a lost beloved! There's loving passion within these lines.
Well done David, well done!

Your poetry is esteemed my friend. I see by our peers here that you have won their hearts with your passions for living. Your words have depth and perception beyond the normal. It is a wonderful blessing to us all that you can animate these feelings into words.

"The man; Lost his light-In the darkness. The man, To whom 'fate' ordered To be alone forever..." again, sad and beautiful, David, as I tied this in with She was Sleeping. Keep writing. Please don't be alone forever. Lisa

David:

as a whole i thought this is a wonderful poem, but i think I may know the trouble with the "love" section: it's that nasty word "truth." because if you are truly honest with yourself you'll know that you have loved a many a thing or person that had nothing to do with truth, and best kept that way.

Sensitive and deeply moving. Translation is very difficult in poetry. I know because I often write in French and try to convey the same in English and I find it very hard. Nice work, David. Love and peace. Regis
