I do not worship in the way that those self-righeous do....

In my early morning matins
When I first fall out of bed
I ask the Boss to nourish me
To keep my spirit fed
I swear I’ll do the best I can
To treat all others well
To repay ill will with kindness
Try all evil thoughts to quell

In my personal sunset vespers
I pray to wake another day
I ask that sleep refresh me
That it keep bad dreams at bay
I always feel great comfort
As darkness slowly starts to fall
Let me wake again for matins
At the rooster pheasant’s call

Each day between my daily prayers
Despite my supplications
I struggle hard to ride Your Way
Oh, Ruler of All Nations
I do not worship in the way
That those self-righteous do
Please keep me ridin’ down Your Trail
Let my actions mirror You

Amen

Hey Duke,

Very good poetic expression...
You are on your way. took me a long time to reach this point and I am still not quite there yet.

May The Lord be with you on your journey,

Damn, dude/Duke, you are less of a heathen than I am for sure, all I do is thank Him for every day I am not 6 feet under...or sprinkled over my girlfriends horses manure pile...;-) e

This a very powerful poem conveying strength, honesty and purpose. It does not need my approval, but it's got it. Well done.
